Mercedes-Benz is still hard at work preparing a small sports car that will fight head to head with the Porsche 911, and the brand is testing the car at the famed Nürburgring to hone its handling.
The car is not likely to keep the SLC nameplate once it makes it to the market, likely sometime in late 2014, because Mercedes wants to be clear that this car shares little with the larger SLS sports car. Internally the car is known as the C190.
A twin-turbo V8 will probably provide the power, ranging in output from 485 hp to 600 hp depending on what version of the car you buy. A V6 has also been rumored as a budget engine option.
To best compete with the 911, watch for the car to cost somewhere just under $100,000, filling a hole in the MB lineup.
